Your Work is Your Business

Welcome fellow Caterwaiters

We are a small but growing company that provides the services of professional caterwaiters, bartenders, and light food prep. staff throughout the greater New York area (NYC - Long Island - Westchester - New Jersey - Southern Connecticut). I am currently seeking talented people to expand our active roster. This is an official invitation for you to actively participate and profit from our continued success.

The essential qualifications required (in order of importance) are these:

1. Grooming and Hygeine: Perception is everything. Your uniform and your person must be clean and well groomed at all times.  Shirts and slacks must be impeccably clean and pressed.  Our visual appearence to the client will directly determine their overall satisfaction with the performance of our duties. If their overall perception is positive they will feel comfortable offering us future assignments, and secure in recommending our services to other potential clients.

2. You must return all phone calls and/or e mails immediately upon receiving messages. Swift communication of information is essential to the continued function of our business. Unnecessary delay is counterproductive and therefore unacceptable.

3. You must exhibit a cooperative attitude with both the client and your fellow workers at all times, especially at the site of an assignment.

4. Promptness, reliability and preparedness.  Arriving on time to a job site is as important to our "appearence" as grooming and personal hygeine.   Responding to all phone calls and e mail as quickly as possible is an eeesntial element of preparedness.

5. Skills and experience. Though your skills and experience will always be recognized and highly valued and appreciated by us and the client, this is intentionally listed last in order of imporatnce. All  of the experience you've acquired  (or those of you with minimal experience will acquire) is useless for our purposes if the above items 1 through 4 are not part of your performance.

Though most certainly by no means a requirement, if you have your own car or van, please bring it to my attention in your initial response.  It will be easier for me to book you for "out of town" single-server  assignments and you will be compensated for driving yourself and occasionally others to multi-server event locations.

If you can meet those qualifications please e-mail me with a brief description of your experience and all contact information. Please BE SURE to include your current postal mailing address (including zip code) so that I may send out some informational materials for you to return so we can become better acquainted. Once you're added to our active list you may begin accepting offered assignments. Please read on because.....

Here's where it gets interesting:

Accepting assignments is not the only way to earn money with our organization. Every year you get a 1099 tax form from most of your clients telling you that you're in business for yourself. Somehow though, it just doesn't feel like it. Working as a freelance caterwaiter and/or bartender your income has always been limited by the amount of your time you have to sell to caterers and bookers while still managing to have a life and/or pursue an alternate career. Our referral program provides you with the opportunity to earn money in other ways besides showing up for assignments.

Make Introductions:

Make a list of everyone you know in the business (or other areas of your life) that could meet the criteria described here. Introduce me to those people by inviting them to visit this very web site or have them contact me by the e-mail address below. Be sure they indicate you as their reference by name (first and last) and include all contact information, including their postal mailing address. You will get paid up to $100.00 for every introduction that results in my seeing fit to arrange assignments for those people. The specific amount for each assignment will be determined by several factors, not the least of which is the amount I am able to negotiate with the client for the contracted services. If you introduce me to only 10 qualified people I select to send on assignment for a total of 100 hours each, you'll earn up to $1000.00 just for making those introductions, whether or not you ever accept an assignment. There's really nothing new about the concept. It's commonly called "networking". Chances are, you have already been arranging assignments for your friends in the business without getting paid for your efforts. The friend you refer gets paid for the assignment. The booker gets paid for the assignment. Now it's "Your Turn".

Refer Clients:

Make a list of everywhere you know of and/or have personal contacts that may use "outside" staff for event assignments. Basically, this means many of the places you already work or have worked as a caterwaiter or bartender. You can now profit from those professional relationships you've developed by expanding the service you are able to provide to them. It may be may be an ongoing relationship (like a country club or caterer), an occasional relationship (like a corporate client who stages functions few and far between), or even a one time assignment (like an event in a private home). You will get paid up to $500.00 for every contact that directly results in Have Tux Will Travel arranging caterwaitering assignments. If you produce qualified contacts that result in 5 new accounts, you'll earn up to $2500.00, whether or not you ever accept an assignment for those accounts. Once again, the specific amount for each event at each new account will be determined by various factors, some described above. This expanded pool of client contacts initiated by you and others like yourself also affords you with increased income opportunities should you choose to accept additional caterwaitering assignments at those sites.

Now it's "Your Turn"! Your work can become your business.

You now have 3 established ways in place to earn an income from the business of caterwaitering:

1. Accepting assignments.

2. Making introductions.

3. Client referrals.

Consider the potential in having people you introduced to me sent on assignments that you were instrumental in securing. Do the math, you'll realize how quickly you could match or multiply the income you earn from solely accepting assignments.

Please understand: You are not in any way required to participate in the referral program to accept assignments. Most of you will be interested solely in accepting caterwaitering assignments, and that's fine. You are instrumental to our success and you'll always be most welcome, appreciated and rewarded as a valued member of our crew.

Those of you who are more ambitious now have an operating business opportunity you can use to generate a substantial income and perhaps free up your time to pursue other interests (like that life I mentioned earlier). By accepting this invitation you now have the freedom to choose the amount of time you want to devote to caterwaitering without jeopardizing, and possibly even increasing your present income. After all, you're already in business for yourself. All you really have to do from now on is proceed in the same way you have been but smarter, by approaching it as a business and keeping your eyes open for opportunity.
